Indian Child Welfare Act and Tribal Law
At the Heidman Law Firm, we understand that children are the heart of a Tribe. We have defended several Tribes and their rights to intervene and participate in child custody proceedings under the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA). We have successfully defended tribal rights and the constitutionality of ICWA in numerous state courts, before both the Iowa and Nebraska Supreme Courts, and before the United States Supreme Court.
We have experience working with a wide range of legal issues facing Indians and Native American populations, as well as entities wanting to do business with Tribes. Successful results are achieved for our clients through dedication, mediation, and innovative approaches.
