Heidman Law Firm is committed to seeking and retaining high-quality attorneys. Graduating law school students and practicing attorneys licensed in Iowa, Nebraska, or South Dakota who are interested in joining the Heidman Law Firm team are encouraged to apply.
Associate attorneys at Heidman Law Firm receive mentoring in several ways as they develop their practice. A team of Partners provides regular training and guidance. Each Associate is also paired with a Partner for one-on-one mentoring. Heidman prides itself on having an open-door policy so that Associates are comfortable working closely with Partners, Associates, staff, and other members of the Heidman team.
Associates have many opportunities to expand and build their skills in critical thinking and legal analysis through research and writing. In addition, Associates routinely have direct client interaction, spend time in the courtroom, and are exposed to a variety of legal matters. Associates are actively involved in client matters and are given a good deal of responsibility. At the same time, Associates are granted flexibility and autonomy in managing their workload and developing their skills and practice. Each Associate is hired with the expectation that he or she will become a Partner with the firm in the future.

Heidman Law Firm regularly hires 1L and 2L law students for summer clerkships.
The Summer Clerk Program at Heidman Law Firm strives to provide Summer Clerks with hands-on and varied experiences throughout the firm’s practice areas. This is a great way for law students to begin to identify their favorite practice areas. Like Associates, each Summer Clerk is paired with a Partner for individual mentoring. Summer Clerks participate in all Associate trainings and activities while they are with the firm so they can get a real feel for what being an Associate at Heidman would be like. There are also opportunities for social activities throughout the summer.
