Eighth Circuit Affirms Defense Verdict
June 18, 2015
The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals has affirmed a trial court decision that dismissed a Fourth Amendment unreasonable search claim against Heidman Law Firm's clients, four Woodbury County correctional officers. In addition to alleging that she was subjected to an unreasonable search, the Plaintiff had also alleged that the officers used excessive force against her and violated her free speech. At trial, the jury found in favor of the officers and held that there was no excessive force or violation of free speech. The case was tried in federal district court by John Gray and argued on appeal to the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals by Allyson Dirksen. Peters v. Risdal, et al., No. 14–1522, 2015 WL 3378275 (8th Cir. May 26, 2015).
